Khuzdar Background
Khuzdar was notified as a separate district an 1st Mrach,1974 prior to that it was include in kalat district as a Sub Division In November ,1992 it was future bifurcated into two districts namely khuzdar and Awarn it derives its name form the headquarters town .
Khuzdar used to be the main city of Jhalawan State .The District lies between 20 to 30 and 28 to 52 north latitudes and 65 to 42 and 67 to 29 east longitudes .It is bounded on the east by bolan Jhal Magsi and lasbela Districts and larkana and Dadu Districts of Sind Province. On the South by Lasbela District and on the sounth west by Awarn District.
In 976 AD , Khuzdar was governed by an Arab name Muin bin Ahmed A year later Amir Nasir-Ud –Din Sbuketegin communed a series of invasions to India. He conquered khuzdar but it possession was restored to its previous rulers through a treaty the treaty stipulated that immediately a sum of money was to be paid and that ruler would there for send a tribute every year.
Subuktegin again attacked the recalcitrant ruler. During the days of Mohmood Ghaznavi, the ruler of khuzdar that his subsequent conquests in Sindh were chiefly effective khuzdar was include in Mahamud’s territory in 1031 AD.
With the downfall of the Ghanzinivids , Khuzdar passed to the Ghorid and then to Nasir-ud-din kabacha in 1225 AD khuzdar submitted to sham-ud din altmash.

The rulers of that period seriously implemented the Islamic Laws. Since the Death of Gauhar khan Chief of Jhallawan the area has enjoyed as long period of repose. Khuzdar region was full of kzrezes and lush green cultivation at the times it was a province of Khurasan , Khuzdar was situated on the route for caravans taking merchandise on camel back to the part of makran for expert to Middle East Countries ,the forces of Mohammad Bin Qasim passed through this area gaining access to Sindh through the Moola pass. The Mud fort of Khuzdar was built by the khan Khuda Dad in 1870 during a war with Jams of Lasbela .
In 1903, the British Government appointed a political agent at khuzdar to carry out the administrative affairs of the government, this administrative system continued till the partition of India .Before March 1974 khuzdar was sub division of kalat district khuzdar was awarded the status of district in 15th March, 1974.
The District Headquarter is 302 KM form Quetta it was lies at an elevation of 1249 meters above sea level and is situated on the RCD Highway connecting it to Iran and Karachi a number of mounds if archeological interested have been founded in khuzdar the most important one is Meri Bhar or place Mound, it is believed to seat of the last Mongol Governor. of khuzdar ,Malik Chap was Killed by Khuzdar peoples inhabitants of khuzdar .
